Everton missed the chance to claim their first Premier League away win of the season as they lost 3-2 to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, whose last league game for Brighton was on December 26, 2018, was again benched, while Alex Iwobi featured for Everton.
The Toffees were on their way to a first league win on the road as they led 2-1.
However, goals from Neal Maupay (80th minute penalty) and a Lucas Digne’s own goal (94th minute) subjected the Merseyside club to a sixth league defeat.
Pascal Gross had put Brighton ahead in the 15th minute before an own goal by Adam Webster on 20 minutes drew Everton level.
With 16 minutes remaining, substitute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin got on the score sheet to give Everton a 2-1 lead.
Everton are now 16th on 10 points, just two points off the relegation zone in the league table.
The win move Brighton to 12 spot on 12 points after 10 league games played.
In other games, Watford’s wait for a first league win this season continues after a 0-0 home draw against Bournemouth, while visiting Sheffield United held West Ham to a 1-1 draw.
