Bello Matawalle, Zamfara State governor, has said the shutdown of telecommunication services in the state has been yielding results.
Matawalle, who spoke to DW Hausa Service on Monday, said security forces in collaboration with local vigilantes have been taking the fight to the bandits’ enclaves as directed by the Chief of Army Staff, Yahaya Farouk.
He also revealed that the closure of local markets have started making impacts.
“The bandits are releasing their captives, they are abandoning their motorcycles after running out of fuel. Many of the bandits have been killed by the security forces and the security personnel will sustain the offensive against them until we wipe them out from Zamfara,” he said.
