Shehu Sani, a former senator, has said pastors and imams should suspend preaching in the rural areas during the upcoming Easter and Ramadan seasons because bandits would not hearken to the messages and repent.
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly, made the suggestion in a Twitter post on Saturday.
There have been calls for both Christian and Islamic clerics to preach to bandits, who hide in the forests, to preach to them to repent from their criminal activities, especially since Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent religious leader, began negotiating on their behalf.
But according to Sani, the bandits are godless, implying that they could also attack the clerics.
To the Imams in our own part of the country who wants to move to the villages to preach during Ramadan; To the Pastors who wants to move to the rural areas to minister during Easter, suspend action;Bandits are Godless.
