Armed bandits, on Monday, attacked Amarawa village in Ilela Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing 10 persons and injuring others.

It was gathered that the gunmen, who stormed the village on motorcycles, also kidnapped a wealthy businessman.
According to a report by BBC Hausa, the gunmen, who appeared to have invaded the village to kidnap the businessman, had warned the villagers not to attempt to stop them.

However, the locals were said to have tried to rescue the man, which led to the killing of the victims, including one Rabiu Mika Ilu, before whisking the businessman away.
The police command confirmed the attack, but said details are still sketchy.

Meanwhile, the victims of the attack have been buried according to Islamic rites, while those who sustained gunshot wounds have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
