Armed bandits have reportedly killed six policemen along Gusau/Sokoto Road, near Dogon Karfe, in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It was also said that the bandits killed two other civilians and carted away AK-47 rifles of the police officers in the attack on Sunday.
“There was another attack by bandits along Sokoto-Gusau Road on Sunday. Eight people were killed, six police officers, including Inspector Lemu, and two civilians.
“The gunmen also robbed innocent commuters of their valuables,” SaharaReporters quotes a source as saying.
The incident comes days after gunmen killed 67 persons in Magarya ward, Kadawa community of Zurmi local government area of the state.
According to the publication, Bello Matawalle, the state governor, recently gave out about 15 brand new Hilux vehicles to leaders of different ‘repentant’ bandits’ leaders in the state.
Matawalle also allegedly approved millions of naira for the repentant bandits as compensation.
