Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi has signed a new five-year-deal with the Catalans. The 29-year-old’s new contract at the club is said to include a £350 million release clause. The deal comes as a huge relief for the Blaugranas, who had run the risk of losing Messi for nothing once his current deal expires in 2018.
According to UK’s The Sun, Messi’s new pay packet will vary from year to year based on numerous factors. But it is believed he could leapfrog Chinese exports to become the world’s highest paid player, taking home in the region of £800k-a-week.
