The Benue State Police Command and Chairman, Logo Local Government Area, where men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, Friday, killed citizens, have given separate casualty number.
Police spokesman in the state, John Bako, said only five corpses were recovered as at yesterday. But Kester Kyenge, the local government chairman, put the casualty figure at 15.
The attack on Anyiin, and four other villages is the second within a space of a week in the state. The killings have become a signpost of the legendary feud between Tiv farmers and Fulani herdsmen over farmlands. The farmers grouse is the destruction of their farmlands by the cattles herded for grazing by the Fulani men. A peace and reconciliation committee has been formed to find a solution to the conflict.
