Nine months after a group of 20 persons gathered at an isolated house in the middle of a pandemic, the Big Brother Naija ‘Lockdown’ housemates have returned for one final time. The contestants of the fifth season of the most popular reality television show in Nigeria will, this time, under the watch of Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the show’s anchor, and not under the the viscous voice of the unknown but ever watching Big Brother deliberate on all that happened during the 71-day show in 2020.

As the name of the season suggests, the BBNaija ‘Lockdown’ edition kept its fans and all Nigerians locked down to their TV sets as they endured restrictions due to the COVID-19 crisis. It turned out to be a blockbuster and the best ever in the show’s history as the housemates provided lots of entertainment with their daily activities, sponsored tasks, and strategies, emotional outburst and, of course, romantic chases.

There was also a lot of friendship bonds which turned out to either be daredevil scheming or pure shenanigans either during or after the show, and this leads to the “gbas gbos” we expect from two housemates deemed to be controversial during the show – Lucy and Ka3na the “Boss Lady” – during the hugely anticipated Big Brother Naija ‘Lockdown’: The Reunion.

Just to recall for viewers who may have forgotten or for those who could not watch the show, Lucy and Ka3na were best buddies on the show. They rolled on together from practically the second day in the house as they hanged out for long periods of time in the kitchen, with the former always helping the latter, who was the prominent chef in the house for the first two weeks.

They discussed a lot from housemates to relationships to activities to food, cleaned the kitchen together, backed each other in disputes and went for the jugular of any housemate who criticized each other. It was indeed a spectacular friendship to behold as both ladies held their own against the rest of the girls on the show and the housemates in general.

It was, therefore, no surprise when Lucy literally filled up a bucket full of tears when Ka3na was evicted from the house. She felt inconsolable that her best friend had been evicted and despite her friendship with Dora D’ Explora, Lucy never had a robust relationship in the house like the one she had with the ‘Boss Lady’. To further exemplify the depth of their relationship, Lucy quarreled with virtually all her fellow contestants over their negative portrayal of Ka3na during the week in which the housemates were tasked to present a drama about their evicted colleagues. Despite the intervention of her other friends – Dora and Prince – who counselled her to roll on with the drama, Lucy sobbed heavily and insisted that negative scenes about Ka3na must be removed.

Expectedly, many fans and observers thought the friendship will be solidified when they reconnected after the show… or so we thought. About five to six months post-BBN, insinuations suddenly surfaced on social media indicating a rift between Lucy and Ka3na. Where such animosity came from still remains a shock to so many people till today. The early indicator was when they both unfollowed each other on Instagram, which was deemed unfathomable. The drama intensified when Ka3na, who had allegedly not spoken to her in months, felicitated with Lucy on her birthday in April 2021. The celebrant responded, literally warning her former friend to “don’t toy with my feelings”. The friendship had obviously deteriorated to the extent where both were no longer cordial.

As both ladies reunite for the BBN Reunion, feelers from the set suggested that they did not see eye-to-eye, talk less of seating together as they did previously. There were also hints of heated animosity between the two on set as never seen before. What really happened? Did a physical altercation happen live on set? Did any of the ladies pelt each other with their shoes as it is being insinuated? Was it captured on camera?

Fans of the show and we here at Newsbreak eagerly want to know how the “gbas gbos” unfolded and if there was eventually a reconciliation. But we may just have to wait a little longer before the organisers of the show announce the broadcast time of the Reunion show.
