MTV has unveiled nominations for the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards of the prestigious ceremony.
Pop culture movie, Black Panther clawed its way to the top with seven nominations. On the television side, Netflix’s Stranger Things came out of the upside down to nab a leading six nominations.
The ceremony is set for June 18 at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles and will be hosted by stand-up comedian and Girls Trip breakout Tiffany Haddish (also a nominee this year for Best Comedic Performance).
Until last year, the annual ceremony was known as the MTV Movie Awards. Now, the event has gone the Golden Globes route by including television series.
And in an effort to challenge the status quo and make sure everyone know this is a “woke” awards show, the ceremony features gender-neutral categories. The awards show is also known for having non-traditional awards like “Best Kiss” and “Best Fight.”
