A breakout of violence between Share and Tsaragi communities in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State have left five people dead and huge destruction in its wake. The dead, namely Aliyu Issah, Muhmini, Alhaji Saba, Madu Issa and Kadiri were said to be of Nupe tribe, living in Obadare village believed to belong to the Share people.
According to reports, five people were also arrested for the mayhem, Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesman for Kwara Police Command said.
The report by Daily Trust, quoted a villager as saying the fight was between Fulani and Tsaragi people and not between Share and Tsaragi communities. The unnamed villager claimed that though Share people suffered in the attack, they however didn’t partake in the mayhem.
The Kwara government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the two communities, Isiaka Gold, secretary to the government.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed deplored the ‘murder of some farmers in Share, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state by yet to be identified persons,’ a statement by his spokesman, Abdulwahab Oba, said.
