Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, has criticized club defender, Jerome Boateng, for organizing a party for his teammates before their crucial game against league leaders, Borussia Dortmund, on Saturday night.
Bayern trail their rivals by two points ahead of the all-important game at the Allianz Arena.
The Bundesliaga champions could be out of the title race if they loss, or get themselves back into contention with a victory.
Salihamidzic thinks Boateng took a poor decision to organize a party at an exclusive nightclub in Munich before such a high-profile game.
“I do not want to interfere in the private life of players but all our focus should be on football,” he said
“As a player I would not do it because you do not yet know what the result will be.
“I hope we play a game but had he asked me I would have advised against it.”
Bayern go into the game with six wins and a draw in their last seven league games.
They were given a scare in a 5-4 win in the German Cup by second-tier side, Heidenheim, in their last game.
“We need to forget it and delete it. We have a very important game coming up.
“Such games make you think, but we have to focus on Saturday because it is a very important game and we have a lot to do until then,” Salihamidzic added.
Manager Niko Kovac has been under pressure for most of the season. He has challenged his players to take the club back to the top of the league.
“Second place is the first loser. We want to win,” he said.
“The game on Saturday is very, very important.
“We all know what’s at stake and what will be demanded of us both defensively and going forward.
“It will be an interesting game between two evenly-matched teams. The players, the fans and the club will give everything to win this.
