Senator Ali Ndume, Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, on Tuesday, disclosed that more than 840 Nigerian soldiers have been killed by Boko Haram insurgents from 2013 till date.
He said 840 of the soldiers were buried in Military cemetery located in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, while the others were buried in other military cemeteries located in other parts of the North-East geopolitical zone.
According to PUNCH, Ndume revealed this while briefing journalists in Abuja on findings by the senate panel, who recently returned from Maiduguri.
However, the senator denied reports that mass burial was conducted for soldiers killed by the terrorists.
He also said the Senate panel was already investigating allegations that some Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), operating in the troubled region were providing useful information to Boko Haram.
