Boko Haram terrorists have levelled a military base, hoisting their flag in the premises on Tuesday in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The attackers were said to have stormed the base in gun trucks, shooting at the soldiers, who fled for their dear lives.
The insurgents stormed the town in the early hours while the villagers were going for morning prayers at the mosque. They reportedly shot indiscriminately, burning a primary school and the only healthcare centre in the town.

The Punch quoted a resident as saying the terrorists operated for over an hour unchallenged. He said they chanted ‘Allahu Akbar’ while they attacked the town.

Abubakar Iliya, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, said no life was lost but properties worth millions were destroyed. He said the ministry would prepare a report for the governor before destroyed infrastructures are rebuilt.
