Boko Haram has released photographs of Nigerian military gun trucks and a patrol van belonging to the Borno State police command stolen from Dikwa area of the state, when the terrorists attacked the town on Sunday.
According to SaharaReporters, the insurgents released pictures of three BTR Armoured Personnel Carriers, Panhard AML-60 and another Melara Mod 56 Pack Howitzer captured during the attack.
The publication said the terrorists displayed photographs of “Mortar Bombs and Type 86P hand grenades, PG-7V/PG-7VM, 37mm launchers, and 12.7mm ammo”.
The army had on Monday, confirmed that the jihadists attacked Dikwa town in Dikwa Local Government Area of the state with at least 12 gun trucks.
The Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) fighters attacked Dikwa town, about 85 kilometres from Maiduguri, engaging the troops in a gun battle which lasted for hours.
However, the army in a statement released by its spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, only noted that the insurgents attempted to take control of the town during the evening Ramadan fast break, but were repelled by the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole.
