Newsbreak reports that Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday afternoon announced Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, as the ruling party’s consensus candidate.
Adamu made the announcement at the meeting of National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja, as preparations for the 2023 general election gathers steam.
Other aspirants including Bola Tinubu; Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Kayode Fayemi and David Umahi, among others will however be allowed to contest the primary at the convention commencing on Tuesday at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Adamu told the NWC that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari.
