Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna State, has tested positive for Coronavirus.
This was disclosed by Television Continental (TVC), on Saturday night.
The governor confirmed the news in a video shared on micro-blogging site, Twitter.
His wife, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, later broke the news in a tweet.
“Dear Tweeps. My husband. the governor of Kaduna State, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Please keep us in your prayers,” she wrote.
El-Rufai becomes the second governor in Nigeria to test positive for the virus, after Bala Mohammed, his Bauchi counterpart, revealed earlier this week that he has the disease.
The governor ordered the closure of markets, schools, and also banned all religious and social gatherings in Kaduna last week.
He imposed a curfew in the state on Friday, as part of measures to check the spread of the disease.
