There was pandemonium in Anambra State on Tuesday night following an attack by the so-called Unknown Gunmen terrorising many parts of Nigeria’s southeast region. The criminals attacked a newly-built security office in Ihiala, Anambra State.
Newsbreak.ng reports that the attackers threw Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) and set ablaze the security office which is located around Total fuel station and Kamba Eatery, along Onitsha-Owerri road, Ihiala. Vehicles were also burnt down in the assault which occurred at about 10:15 PM.
In the midst of the confusion, road users had to make u-turn.
A journalist, Okwundu Uchenna Martins, who said he witnessed the incident explained: “What I saw in Ihiala on Tuesday night was war. The unknown gunmen struck at the security office in Ihiala.
“I lay down on the road trapped with fear.”
He added: “They were throwing bombs here and there. They burnt the security office and also cars.
“I was just a stone throw, so I could see everything. But I had to lie down flat with my stomach.”
This news medium understands that the targeted security office was used by Ebubeagu operatives and men of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG).
The degree of devastation is not yet clear.
