Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has officially joined the Labour Party (LP).
Newsbreak.ng reports that the development comes hours after Peter Obi announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, announced his resignation from the party saying recent developments within the party had made it impossible for him to continue in the presidential race.
Welcoming Obi, LP wrote: “As earlier reported, H.E Peter Obi Joins Labour Party of Nigeria, @PeterObi registered as a member of the party on Friday in his ward in Anambra State.
He is expected to pick the presidential form and contest the party’s presidential primary election next Tuesday.
