Newsbreak reports that suspected members of the Biafra Nations League (BnL) have clashed with a special patrol team of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), in an attempt to set police van ablaze in the border village of Bashu, Boki Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State.
Recall that the town came under attack two weeks ago when suspected members of Ambazonia invaded the village to kill scores of people including six Nigerians in the area.
Reports say that the youths who are alleged to be members of BnL, attacked the police in the community when the officers were heading to mount check point as at 3pm in Boki.
Eyewitnesses who identify some of the youths said they were with Biafra insignia.
Residents of the area working with the police have promised to fish out the suspects.
Reacting to the incidence, Deputy Leader of BnL, Ebuta Takon, told newsmen that he was yet to speak with BnL members in Boki, but called on the police to stop intimidations and arrest of persons who have decided to identify with Biafra.
“I don’t know, I’m not sure who they are. I haven’t spoken with our members in Boki, but the Police must refrain from arresting innocent people, especially our supporters,” Takon said.
