Princewill Richards, Leader of the Biafra Nations League (BnL), has reportedly escaped arrest in Bakassi Peninsula.

A source who pleaded anonymity told the press that the BnL leader was smuggled into the region on Tuesday by suspected militants loyal to his group.

According to the source, intelligence units of the Nigerian Police and Army received the information.

Another source said that the joint operatives of the Nigerian Police and Army ransacked Ikang, Ekpri Ikang, and Idebe axis of Bakassi Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State. Though it wasn’t clear who they were looking for, security vans were seen patrolling Calabar-Ikang road.

Furthermore, Cameroonian authorities have restricted cross-border movement from 8 pm to 6 am. This might be due to the report of the presence of the BnL leader.

Masked members of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (Bataillon d’Intervention Rapide) were also sighted close to Ikang waterways.
