A 21-storey building under construction has collapsed on Monday in Lagos State.
The incident occurred at Gerrad Road in the Ikoyi axis of Lagos State.
Scores of persons are said to be trapped in the collapsed building, including the owner of the building.
According to some eyewitnesses who spoke to Arise TV in an interview, as monitored by our correspondent, the emergency services were yet to arrive at the incident scene two hours after they were called and informed about the incident.
It was also gathered that some people said they felt the tremor in Parkview Estate as their windows reportedly clattered.
“They thought it was an earthquake about to happen. Thank God it wasn’t occupied yet, That would have been disastrous,” a resident of Ikoyi said.
At the time of this report, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were not on the ground.
But speaking later, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, the Director-General of LASEMA, in a telephone call with our correspondent said the agency has activated its emergency response plan to address the incident.
