A suicide bomber reportedly died on Tuesday in Ebonyi State, when the vest he was wearing exploded.

According to Vanguard, the incident occurred in Afikpo town, Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.
The newspaper said a source disclosed that the incident happened around 12:00pm.
“He made an attempt at entering Amaizu/ Amangballa Primary School but was turned back by the school security since he couldn’t justify his reason for visiting.

“He immediately started running inside a nearby bush before a big bang was heard”, the source said
It said the source further disclosed that resident scampered for safety when the bomb went off, but gathered at the scene of the incident a few minutes later to discover the mutilated body of the suspected suicide bomber.
The publication also said the tragedy was averted close to the Eke Market in Afikpo, which happens to be the biggest market in the area.

Staley Okoro, Commissioner for Internal Security in the state, has confirmed the incident.
He, however, said he was yet to get details of what happened.
