National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won the presidential primary election of party.
Newsbreak.ng reports that Tinubu polled over 1,271 votes (still counting) to get the ticket at the party’s special convention held in Abuja.
Tinubu’s votes outnumbered those of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who got 365 votes and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who garnered 316 votes respectively.
Tinubu’s victory at the APC Presidential Primary which began on Tuesday, came as a result of the sacrifices of the following persons: Godswill Akpabio, Kayode Fayemi, Dimeji Bankole, Ibikunle Amosun and Ajayi Boroffice, who stepped down and asked their delegates to support the strong man of Lagos politics.
This means that Tinubu shall be flying the flag of the ruling party in the 2023 election and would battle opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi of Labour Party, others.
Meanwhile there is wild jubilation across Lagos as the Jagaban clinchesd the ticket of APC at the much-followed convention.
