Nigerian artiste, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has pointed out that President Muhammadu Buhari has only addressed Nigerians once since the #EndSARS protests began in the country ten days ago.
Davido has been at the forefront of the protest in Abuja, with demonstrators across the country demanding end to police brutality, especially those perpetrated by officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the police.
Subsequently, the Federal Government announced the disbandment of SARS last Sunday, replacing it with Special Weapons Tactics Team (SWAT), which has also been rejected by Nigerians.
Buhari addressed the demonstrators on October 12, assuring Nigerians that victims of police brutality in the country get justice.
However, the protests have continued across the country, demanding police reform and good governance.
The singer stated that Nigerian leaders do not think they owe citizens explanation.
“Our president has only addressed us once in the past 10 days … despite everything that is going on,” he tweeted.
“This is the problem. They don’t feel like they owe us enough. That they owe us explanations enough. That our unhappiness shouldn’t cost them their sleep!!! It all goes back to our votes and the fact they feel we ate not responsible for them being in these positions !! (sic).”
