Aminu Bello Masari, Governor of Katsina State, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is tolerating a lot of rubbish in Nigeria all in the name of democracy.
Governor Masari said this in an interview with Television Continental (TVC), which was aired on Sunday.
According to the governor, who is from President Buhari’s state, protests over the dissatisfaction with the current administration’s policies, actions and decisions are expected in a democracy like Nigeria.
He, however, stated that the current president is tolerating a lot of things, insisting that the situation may have been different under a former president, whom he did not name.
He also stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the strongest and most reliable political party in the country, adding that President Buhari has not failed to redeem his campaign promises to Nigerians.
He said: “I think APC is still the strongest, most reliable and dependable party in Nigeria today. (And) I don’t think Buhari has failed us. I think he has tolerated us,” he said.
“And you know we had a president, even though a civilian president, who couldn’t take all this rubbish that some people are doing. But he (Buhari) is taking everything.”
He added: “Anybody saying the rating of a particular political party has gone down… it can only be tested during elections. And from what we have seen in the (APC) revalidation of new members, I think you are getting it wrong,”
