President Muhammadu Buhari has met with Samuel Ortom, Governor of Benue State, three days after the convoy of the latter was attacked by gunmen.
The meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Although the purpose of the meeting is not yet known at the time of filing this report, it may not be unconnected to the attack of Governor Ortom on his farm in Tyo-Mu community along the Makurdi-Gboko Road, near Makurdi, the state capital, last Saturday.
According to the governor, the gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed his convoy to the river bank where he was on foot with his security details to inspect his farm and opened fire on them, but were eventually repelled.
He, however, warned that the incident should not be politicised.
President Buhari is of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Ortom is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
