President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed that Nigerians should give his government the next few weeks when the action to tame all activities of terrorism will begin to show.
He said this during an interview on Arise TV early on Thursday. The interview will be the second time he would grant such to the media house in Nigeria.
Buhari said that he found it hard to believe that the terrorists could be using the name of God to perpetrate their evil acts, adding, ““Problem in the north-west; you have people over there stealing each other’s cattle and burning each other’s villages. Like I said, we are going to treat them in the language they understand. We have given the police and the military the power to be ruthless. You watch it in a few weeks’ time there will be a difference. You can’t kill innocent people and say God is great”.
He said his government is mindful of the fact that Nigeria is practicing democracy form of government which allows that it must not be dictatorial in all its action, but with the situation getting out of hands across the country, it won’t fold its arms any longer.
”Because we told them if we keep people away from their farm, we are going to starve. And the government can’t control the public. If you allow hunger, the government is going to be in trouble and we don’t want to be in trouble. We are already in enough trouble. So we warn them sooner than later you’ll see the difference.”
