President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Muazu Sambo, from Taraba State, as the minister-designate for the Power Ministry.
This was made known while Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President, during the upper legislative chamber’s plenary on Tuesday read a letter from President Buhari, seeking the confirmation of Sambo.
If confirmed by the Senate, Sambo will replace Sale Mamman, the former minister of power, whom Buhari sacked in September.
Mamman was sacked in September, along with Sabo Nanono, ex-agriculture minister.
President Buhari also asked the Senate to confirm some nominees as resident electoral commissioners (REC) and national commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The nominees are; Mohammed Haruna (national commissioner), May Agbamuche Mbu (national commissioner), Okeagu Kenneth Nnamdi (national commissioner) A.B. Alkali (national commissioner) and Rada H. Gumus (national commissioner).
Other nominees are; Sam Olumeko (national commissioner) and Olaniyi Olaleye Ijalaye (REC).
