
Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari has assured he would look into the war crimes allegation by the Amnesty International, AI, against a retired and serving security service chiefs. The indicted officers included a retired army chief, Azubuike Ihejirika; Air Marshal Alex Badeh, the chief of defence staff and Ola Saa’d, the chief of air staff. In his reaction in a streak of tweets, President Muhammadu Buhari, promised to act on the report and the request by AI that the indicted be investigated and criminally tried in a Nigerian court.
“I assure you that your report will be looked into”, the tweet @MBuhari, says.
“Respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law are the life and soul of the democratic system. We will not tolerate or condone impunity and reckless disregard for human rights”.
