President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked 35 aides working in the office of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, a news outlet, Daily Nigerian has claimed.

Buhari is said to have approved the sack from the United Kingdom, where he is on a private visit, on Tuesday.

TheCable has quoted a source in the Presidency as saying Osinbajo hopes Buhari would rescind his decision. It also said the sackings were done by a presidential aide and not the President himself.

Among those affected are senior special assistants, special assistants, personal assistants, technical assistants, and some whose appointments were approved in August.

The affected aides were said to have been posted out to some line ministries relevant to their designation in October, and that they are expected to be issued with disengagement letters on Wednesday.

There have been rumours of a frosty relationship between Buhari and Osinbajo with observers linking his failure to pass power to his Vice on his UK trip to the crack in relationship between the pair.
