Ministers appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari have donated 50 percent of their March 2020 salaries, to support the fight against Coronavirus in the country.

Lai Mohammed, minister of information, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He revealed that minister of state for transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, coordinated the donation.
Mohammed quoted her as saying the fund was raised by the 43 ministers, to support federal government’s efforts to tackle the disease.

”This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another”, Saraki said.
She added that the gesture will facilitate an early resolution of COVID-19.
The ministers also commended Buhari for his leadership role in addressing the outbreak.
A total of 81 cases have now been confirmed in Nigeria, since the first case was recorded late last month.

Globally, the disease has killed about 27, 198 people, according to Business Insider, and has spread to 200 countries.
