David Cameron, has quit the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Cameron, who tendered his resignation last month after losing the EU referendum, has handed over the reins of affairs to Theresa May after six years in office.

However, Cameron was supposed to spend two extra months in office while the House decided on the suitable candidate. Theresa May was elected as a viable candidate for the position in less than a week. He was given a standing ovation by the Conservative MPs after he rendered his final speech saying there had been “amazing moments” during his six years in power.

He also said he came to “lead people through difficult decisions so they could reach better times together: as I leave today, I hope people will see a stronger country, a thriving economy, and more chances to get on in life”.
