The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has issued a bench warrant ordering the arrest of Justice Walter Onnoghen, the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Danladi Umar, the CCT Chairman, issued the arrest warrant to Mohammed Adamu, the acting Inspector General of Police on Wednesday.
The warrant mandated the acting IGP to arrest Justice Onnoghen and bring him before the tribunal to attend its proceeding on Friday.
The order also compelled Yusuf Bichi, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS, to join in arresting the suspended CJN and bring him before the tribunal.
Justice Onnoghen is currently facing a six-count criminal charge of false declaration of assets preferred against him by the Federal Government.
However, the suspended CJN has not attended the trial proceedings, with his defence team of lawyers stating that he is challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT to hear the matter.
