Geng Quangrong, a Chinese man, is accused of fatally stabbing Ummu Kulthum, a 23-year-old lady, in the Janbulo neighborhood of Kano’s Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Through its spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police in Kano verified the event. He said that the suspect, Geng, 47, committed the crime on Friday after climbing the fence of the dead person’s home to obtain entrance, where he repeatedly stabbed her till she passed away.
Geng claimed that despite spending a lot of money on his lover Ummu, she betrayed him by not fulfilling her promise to marry him.
The suspect went on to say that he was enraged by her deceit and made the decision to attack and kill the deceased at her home.
The mother of the dead raised the alarm during the act, the police were promptly informed of the development, and the DPO, Dorayi Babba, was told to take command of the issue, according to the police spokesman.
Deng has now been moved to the state’s administrative center in Bompai for additional investigation and prosecution.
Ummu was however buried in Kano on Saturday morning.
