The apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has demanded the arrest and prosecution of the traditional ruler who turbaned a bandit leader in Zamfara State.
It would be recalled that the Emir of Sabon Birnin Yandoto, Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, Aliyu Garba Marafa, recently conferred a chieftaincy title to a notorious ‘repentant’ bandit’ leader, Adamu Aliero, crowning him Sarkin Fulani (leader of Fulani). This has led to strong condemnation from the public.
Although the Zamfara State Government had Sunday announced the suspension of the Marafa for ‘turbaning’ the bandit leader, Ohanaeze said it is not enough.
“That Emir has shown by his action that he is an accomplice. He is one of them. He should be arrested. He should be arrested without delay and treated as a bandit.
“Government should use him to locate other bandits wherever they are,” Alex Chiedozie, the Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, told Vanguard.
