A Nigerian lady identified as Funmi Adewola, has lamented on social media how Medmark Pharmacy, a supermarket in Gbagada area of Lagos State, sold a 500 ml hand sanitizer to her for N19,950.
Adewola, who shared the story on Facebook on Saturday, said she did not realise the cost of the product until she got a debit alert.
According to her, she took the product back, but the phamarcy insisted that it was the correct price.
This is coming, after the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), warned that vendors using the excuse of coronavirus case in Nigeria to increase prices of protective apparel and hygiene products will be prosecuted.
“So because of Corona virus, Medmark Pharmacy on Adekunle Osomo street Soluyi Gbagada sold this 500 ml sanitizer for N19,950. We didn’t notice, got back opened the product then debit alert of N19,950 came in. Took it back and they insist that is the price.
“I need to escalate this to whoever it may concern, this is too much,” she wrote.
