A Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere on Monday adjourned a case involving a suspected kidnapper, Philip Nweke. Nweke is said to have an accomplice, named Afolabi Ademola, currently at large.
Nweke allegedly abducted a Lagos traditional chief, identified only as Chief Oni, and three other people on September 3, 2011, at Ebutekekere Street, in the LASU-Isheri area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Y.A. Sule, mentioned that the offence was punishable under Section 269(3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
E.O. Ekeocha and Goodness Onwuachu, defense counsels for the accused, moved for quick trial of the case. They stated that the suspect had been remanded in police custody for too long.
A.M. Nicole-Clay, the presiding judge, adjourned the case till December 20, 2016.
