“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her there”, fifty-one-year-old Thuti Mmabanapila said of his shocking find in a South African mortuary. Mmabanapila had found his missing daughter, but not in the shape she left home on 5 December. The daughter, Kgomotso Mmabanapila’s corpse had been reported as an unknown by policemen who found her. She was smashed in the eye and carried multiple stab wounds in the back of her head and neck, a scenario that suggested she was brutalized to death by her attackers. The 26-year-old Kgomotso reportedly left her home in Tlama-Tlama section in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, at about 9 p.m, to see a friend, who confirmed she did and left afterward. Kgomotso’s corpse would later be found at Stinkwater near Hammanskraal, over 70km away, the following day.
“I was told there were two bodies of women who had been reported as unknown.
“I went quickly inside to check if I could find my daughter.
