Dangote Cement Plc said it plans to launch the premium 32.5 cement grade. The cement would be sold N200 lower than the higher strength 42.5 grade. It also announced that it had reviewed the price of cement in the country downwards with about N100 slashed off the original price of each 50 kilogramme bag of cement
The company said in producing the new brand, it has fully complied with the directive from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON on the various grades of cement and its uses.
Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Devakumar Edwin, explained that the 32.5 grade, which has the lowest strength, will be priced lower than the others and will be selling at N200 lower than the higher strength 42.5 grade.
Edwin said: “This offers our numerous customers and end users the prerogative of choice and its appropriate application.”
The new product branded “Dangote Cement 1X”, was produced in response to customers demand as well as in compliance with SON’s directive for the production of all grades of cement, but with clear labeling on the use.
According to Edwin, the company is currently reviewing the selling prices of its products with intent to reducing them, making the products available with the recent commissioning of additional six million metric tons per annum lines 3 and 4 in Ibese, Ogun state and another three million metric tons capacity at Obajana, Kogi State.
The Dangote Cement in Cameroon, Senegal and Ethiopia are all expected to commence production later this year.
