A daring commercial motorcyclist in Lagos state, South-West Nigeria, attempted snatching a police rifle, a Magistrates’ Court heard. Zabura Keshiwa, 34, reportedly assaulted and obstructed a police sergeant Lawal Gideon from performing his duties at Amuwo Odofin, Festac in Ojo Area of the state.
“The motorcycle rider was obstructing traffic and causing breach of peace, (but) when the sergeant tried to carry out his lawful duly by interrogating him he resisted the interrogation and tried to drag the riffle from the sergeant,” said a police prosecutor. In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Paul Adedamola admitted Keshiwa to N50,000 bail, out of which he was to deposit N25,000. In addition, Keshiwa would produce his relative as surety, who must produce a valid PHCN bill and deposed to an affidavit of means. The matter was adjourned till May 23 for hearing.
