David Adeleke, a singer popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the move by Florence Otedola, a Nigerian disc jockey a.k.a. DJ Cuppy, to sue his personal logistics manager, Afeare Isreal, over a claim he made on a financial contractual settlement regarding Temidayo Raphael, a hip-hop singer better known as Zlatan Ibile.
DJ Cuppy had in a statement on her social media handles on Monday announced that she will institute legal action against Isreal for alleging that she did not pay Zlatan for their 2019 musical collaboration, “Gelato”, which became a hit song.
Isreal further claimed that the disc jockey took Zlatan for her fundraiser in Abuja where she made billions of naira, but never paid the singer neither did she cater to his accommodation.
The allegations were made after a video made rounds on social media that showed Zlatan deny knowing DJ Cuppy in an interview, in response to her claim that the singer blocked her on social media, despite working together on their hit collaboration.
DJ Cuppy said Isreal “inaccurately” declared that she owed an artiste, and urged him to prepare to face her in court.
For the record… There have been no breaches of my contractual agreement regarding the song #Gelato as confirmed by lawyers… However, as @IsrealDMW publicly inaccurately declared I owe an artist money, I am suing him for libel and defamation!

She added that she cannot “answer questions or comment further as it is now a legal case”.
However, the response of Davido, who is the founder of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), to DJ Cuppy’s threat of his logistics manager on Instagram left his fans and industry watchers perplexed.
