Deji Adeyanju, a human rights activist, has announced his withdrawal from ‘Our Mumu Don Do’, an activists’ group convened by Charles Oputa, popularly called Charly Boy.
Adeyanju, who was only recently released after over two months in detention, said Charly Boy had betrayed him and the group while he was away in prison.
He said this in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Dear Nigerians, I have resigned my membership of Our Mumu Don Do. I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charly Boy. He betrayed the cause while I was away in prison and compromised with the oppressors. Thank you,” he tweeted.
Deji Adeyanju, together with Charly Boy, led several anti-government protests between 2016 and 2018.
One of them was at Wuse Market in Abuja during which supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari almost lynched him and other members of the group.
Adeyanju has been arrested and accused of murder and other offences.
