A woman has died in the Okirighwre area of Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State after undergoing a two-month dry fast.

The woman, said to be 60 years old, alongside her husband, a son and a friend, were said to have locked themselves in the house and began the fast for yet- to- be known reasons.
The woman was seen on the floor while her husband sat beside her corpse gulping a drink in a video shared by an online medium.

Their 12-year-old son, who appeared weak and was captured lying on a chair, also could not respond to questions.
The Nation reports that a friend of the family brought the idea of the fast to them.

Reports say that neighbours had tried to give them food but the friend had thrown them away.
It was learnt that the family had been taking only water for sustenance.

Onome Onowhakpoyeya, the state Police Public Relations Officer, told The Nation that efforts are on to reach the family.
