Nigerians have taken to their Twitter pages to blast the National Identity Management Commission over its decision to charge for the replacement and renewal of the National Identity Card.
The Commission, via its Twitter page on Tuesday announced the charges, saying renewal and replacement will cost N3,000 and N5,000 respectively.
NIMC also said that applicants who wish to renew their card can visit any NIMC office with the required documents to obtain their card.
“The requirements include a written application with attached proof of payment receipt made through remita, bank teller, NIN slip and submit it at our office.

However, this has sparked outcry on Twitter as Nigerians berated the commission for what was described as “renewing ones citizenship.”
