Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa state governor has denied beating chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government area, Remember Ogbe, who is alleged to be on a sick bed following the incident at the Government House in Yenegoa, the capital of the riverine state. The governor’s camp and that of his accusers in the All Progressives Congress, APC have continued to remonstrate on the allegation dubbed as falsehood by the former, but claimed to be the truth by the latter camp. A twist was introduced into the story with Ogbe’s denial of the incident, a rebuttal the APC claimed emanate from the government press and not Ogbe himself. In his denial, Ogbe accused the All Progressives Congress, APC of spreading the falsehood, saying the party has become increasingly desperate to win the rescheduled governorship election in the state. But the APC and deep-throat sources claimed the governor actually assaulted Ogbe. Nathan Egba, chairman of Slyva’s campaign challenged Ogbe to show himself publicly if truly he was not beaten and not on sick bed.
“If he is sure that he was not beaten by anybody, let him come out publicly to deny it on television so that cameras can show his face and other parts.
“We have also promised to provide at least three eyewitnesses, who are willing to stake everything, to confirm this story,” Egba stated.
The local government area controlled by Ogbe became, and still, is the battle ground between Seriake, who seeks re-election, and the Timipre Slyva, governorship candidate of the APC. INEC cancelled votes return from the hotly contested local council area with the largest voting population due to violence.
