The parents of Blessing Chinaka, aged four, are in confusion over the fate of their daughter, who was rejected by doctors after two unsuccessful surgeries. The girl, who has an abnormal growth on her nose, had been taken to several hospitals, which rejected her, before being to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where she was operated upon twice. The operations were, however, unable to stop the abnormal growth on her nose, forcing the parents to take her back to LUTH.

On their return, doctors allegedly said they did not know what to do next and rejected her.  Esther Chinaka, Blessing’s mother, said she was advised to seek solutions elsewhere, preferably abroad. She explained that she is not capable of taking her abroad, as they had expended all they had on the bills they paid at LUTH. She added that the little girl has become the butt of jokes in her school, as fellow pupils call her “big nose”. Esther also said the little girl once demanded a knife to cut off the protruding nose. “This problem has traumatized the whole family,” she said dejectedly. She is appealing to well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies for financial assistance needed to take Blessing abroad for treatment
