The convoy of Gombe State governor, Muhammad Inuwa, was reportedly involved in an accident on Thursday, causing the death of a driver and injury to four journalists.

According to Daily Trust, the accident occurred while the governor was returning to Gombe from Bauchi State, where he had gone to attend a meeting of the North-East Governors Forum.
The newspaper reports that a witness who was in the governor’s convoy, said the accident happened when one of the tyres of the SUV conveying the Director General, Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, burst.

He said the driver identified as Malam Babangida, lost control of the vehicle and it somersaulted three times.
The source was quoted that the driver died on the spot, while four journalists, the other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries.
