Some drunk police officers have reportedly shot one person to death in a hotel along Ado-Ikere road, Ekiti State.
The incident is said to have happened around 9:45pm on Saturday.
TheNation reports that the policemen had escorted a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police to the hotel before threatening to shoot fun-seekers. They eventually did, hitting two persons in the chest.
While one of them was pronounced dead at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, the other was rushed to the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital for intensive care.
Sources said the policemen that fired the shots were the ones that conveyed the two victims in their Hilux vehicle to the hospital but allegedly bolted out of the hospital and abandoned the vehicle, moments after dumping the victims.
Sunday Abutu, spokesman of the police in the state, said the suspects have been arrested and detained at the state headquarters. He said they are not from the state command.
He said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue.
