A man, Emmanuel Udo Akpan, 42, has been arrested by the Bayelsa state Command of the Department of State Services for impersonation. Akpan had been parading himself as an officer of the DSS and swindling unsuspecting members of the public. He is said to have been dismissed from the Delta Police Command in 2013 and had been on the wanted list over alleged criminal activities bordering on impersonation and extortion of money from the members of the public under the guise of facilitating their recruitment into the service.
The suspect confessed to the crime and pleaded with the authorities for leniency. The DSS Director, Ade Olusesan said the suspect would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
