The Department of State Services (DSS), has arrested Salihu Tanko-Yakassai, media aide to Kano State governor, after he criticized President Muhammadu Buhari over the spate of abduction of schoolchildren in the country.

An official of the Kano government identified simply as Abubakar, confirmed this on Twitter on Saturday.
“Alhamdulillah we just confirmed @dawisu is at DSS office,” Abubakar tweeted after people reportedly complained of Tanko-Yakassai‘s whereabouts.
Tanko-Yakassai had on Friday, called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to either deal with bandits in the country or resign, following the news of the kidnapping of schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

He said the All Progressives Congress-led government had failed Nigerians, saying the government cannot continue to lament when tragedy occurs without taking any action to prevent a reoccurrence.
“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign,” he had said.

The state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had suspended the aide last year, after he also criticised Buhari during the #EndSARS protests in the country.
